April 27 @ 7pm
April 28 &29 @ 8pm
April 30 @ 3pm
The Drowsy Chaperone was hailed by New York Magazine as “The Perfect Broadway Musical,” winning six Tony Awards when it debuted on Broadway in 2006 include Best Book and Score for a Musical. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for a fast-paced evening of madcap delight.
Written by Lisa Lambert, Gerg Morrison, Bob Martin, and Don McKellar, the musical is filled wonderful songs and showstoppers including, “Fancy Dress,” “Show Off,” “I Do, I Do in the Sky,” and “Stumble Along.”
The Drowsy Chaperone is PG rated for mild adult language and adult situations. It is suitable for all but the youngest of audience members.
The Drowsy Chaperone features a cast of fifty Mason High School students and features Collin Aldrich as the Man in the Chair, Kayla Stroud as Janet Van De Graff, Drew Stidham as Robert Martin, and Michelle Guiot as The Drowsy Chaperone. The show is stage-managed by Jazmin Tangi, assistant directed by Emma Miller and Elizabeth Rivers, assistant choreographed by Sydney Burkhart, Emma Jenkins, and Megan Murray, and assistant technical directed by Ben Wolfe. Including performers, instrumentalists and technicians, well over 100 students have contributed their talents to this show. The play is produced by special agreement with Music Theatre International.
Senior Citizens are also invited to attend our final dress rehearsal free of charge on April 26 @ 7pm.
